In this seminar, Tommy proposed the concept of the universe as a 'set', including physical things, mathematics, structures, and subtle things that bring everything into existence. The group discussed potential issues with this approach, such as reduction to physicality and lack of self-containment. Tommy also discussed the Cognitive-Theoretic Model of the Universe (CTMU), which posits that reality is self-contained and self-creating.
0:00: Universe as a Set: Feedback and Discussion
Tommy proposed and discussed the concept of the universe as a set, explaining that it would include physical things, mathematics, structures, and subtle things that bring everything into existence. He asked the group for feedback on the potential issues with this approach, and Opocap suggested that such a treatment might lead to reduction to physicality and lack of self-containment. Daniel further questioned the idea of the universe as a set, arguing that it might not be self-contained and might not be subject to CTMU logic. They agreed that reality is dynamic and constantly changing and that the main issue with treating the universe as a set might be that it is not composed of any elements as such.
2:15: Class: Introduction to the CTMU
Tommy discussed the Cognitive-Theoretic Model of the Universe (CTMU) and its concept of reality. He explained that reality, as per the CTMU, is self-contained and self-creating, meaning it doesn't require external influence or resources to exist. He further elaborated that reality is an interconnected whole, where every part is integral to the larger whole. Tommy stressed the concept of self-duality in reality, where the internal and external aspects of reality are not separate but interconnected. He also highlighted the significance of the Analytic Reality Closure (A.R.C.) principle in the CTMU, which asserts that reality is one single object. Tommy also touched upon the idea that reality is a language capable of evolving and defining itself. He concluded by equating reality to a mind, suggesting that reality is a self-processing, self-perceptual system with free will.
27:27: Q&A: What is the difference between Analytic Reality Closure (A.R.C.) and the Reality Principle? What is a powerset?
Tommy presented a discussion on the topics of the Metaphysical Autology Principle (M.A.P.) and its 'territory,' and invited questions, comments, and concerns. Daniel raised a question about the relationship between Analytic Reality Closure and the Reality Principle, which Tommy clarified are two terms describing the same concept. Bishop, on the other hand, asked about the term "self-inclusive set," which Tommy identified as a powerset in mathematics. Tommy further explained that a power set includes everything within it, even its own identity, negation, and null set. Daniel suggested incorporating more philosophers' works in future discussions, which Tommy agreed to.
34:25: Q&A: What should one know before learning the CTMU? Tommy discussed the future direction of the course, which will include a background on older thinkers and an explanation of concepts such as syntax, logic, linguistics, set theory, modern science, systems theory, and cybernetics. He emphasized that there are no prerequisites for the course, as he intends to cover all necessary knowledge in a simplified, incremental manner. He suggested that a background in philosophy, along with an understanding of personal religious or spiritual practices, could be beneficial for students. Daniel added that there is a concept in the course that is referenced in religious texts as part of the Hermetic tradition.
33:20: Q&A: Metaphysics and Reality, Who is God?, Kaballah
Daniel and Tommy discussed the concept of the 'En Sof'’ which relates to the idea that reality is expressing itself internally. This concept has been present for thousands of years and aligns with the CTMU. They also delved into Jewish Kabbalistic metaphysics, which posits that God's internal structure filters into the world through a series of emanations. Tommy shared that he has written a book called 'Third Millennium Metaphysics' and offered to send it to those interested. The conversation concluded with a discussion on the nature of reality and the concept of the 'En Sof', which is the ultimate identity of reality.
Excellent explanations!
